La libertà di una pianta risiede nel suo erigersi, oscillare al vento con la magia spericolata che il movimento e la sua crescita conservano nel lungo processo vitale della sua esistenza, a partire dai fenomeni visibili ad occhio nudo fino ai più infinitesimali. Questo ho cercato di restituire con la semplicità grafica che caratterizza le due tavole. La scelta di rappresentare Barberis vulgaris, inoltre, è un motto di spirito che allude all’assonanza con il mio cognome.

[Il giuoco di Barbieri si compie tra il nome della pianta scelta, ovvero il crespino comune, “Berberis vulgaris”, ed il proprio cognome utilizzato come ironico strumento conativo (versatile pennino moscolilarirace; cognomizzazione ranunculare), eccola qui l’ironica fertilità majuscola, d’altro canto se guardi bene quel piccolo tratto c’è; il grafema ipa Æ dell’aperto vocalico anteriore è esibito, chi non lo nota è distratto]

A plant’s freedom lies in its erect posture, swaying in the wind with the reckless magic that movement and growth preserve throughout the long life process of its existence, from the phenomena visible to the naked eye to the most infinitesimal. I have tried to convey this with the graphic simplicity that characterizes the two plates. The choice to represent Barberis vulgaris, moreover, is a joke that alludes to the assonance with my surname.

[Barbieri’s game is played between the name of the chosen plant, namely the common barberry, “Berberis vulgaris,” and his own surname used as an ironic conative instrument (versatile moscolilarirace pen; surname ranuncular). Here is the ironic capital fertility; on the other hand, if you look closely, that small stroke is there; the grapheme ipa Æ of the open front vowel is on display; anyone who doesn’t notice it is distracted.]
